Literacy in Art! Practice your letters while creating something beautiful.

Art words:

Texture- the way something feels or looks like it feels.

Prepare

  • Use what you have:

    • If you have the ability make texture rubbing plates using hot glue and paper, You can also do texture rubbings outside with crayons.

    • If you don't have watercolor paint you can make it:

  1. Find old dried out markers. Arrange your old markers by color.

  2. Take off the caps and place tip down into an old cup (Caution: the ink may stain the cup).

  3. Add water 3/4 full to the top.

  4. Allow for colors to drain overnight.

  5. Ta-Da! Home made watercolor paint from old markers!

  • Fold the paper and created the grid.

  • Help your child by creating an alphabet "cheat sheets". This way they could look at the sheet as a reference for writing their letters of the alphabet.

  • The guided video uses paint markers. A regular paint brush will work.

  • If you do not have oil pastels you can also use crayons or colored pencils for texture rubbing.

Gratitude Rainbow!

When it rains it's no fun. But after a rain storm if you look up you can find a rainbow. A rainbow is the bright side of a icky day. It's important to learn to find the rainbow... or make your own.

My rain storm isn't actually rain outside, it's missing my art students. But I have a rainbow. You are sending me pictures of your AMAZING art. That brings my heart so much joy.

Parent child discussion! Talk to you child. What are you grateful for in your life? Take a moment, slow down, and think of three things that you are thankful for.
