Mrs. Green's Art Room

Week 5/26: Take Me to the Beach!

Happy Memorial Day Week!

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. A lot of people went to the lake and beach this past weekend. I didn't get to go on a trip but that's okay.

You can always bring the beach to your house! My neighbors and I brought the beach to our street with art. That's my friend Wes. We put on Hawaiian Leis and decorated the street with Hawaiian flowers.

We are going to keep the beach fun going in the art room so you can bring the beach to your house too! Pick your favorite project and get creating. Feel free to check out other grade levels for more fun ideas.

Have fun creating!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Week 5/11-5/18: BLUE GOLD

IT'S OFFICIALLY BLUE GOLD!

Here's how to earn points in the "art room". There are four challenges. Each challenge is worth 1 point. You can complete a challenge more than once. When you complete a challenge e-mail your homeroom teacher and let her know.

  • "Bee" Inspired: Finish a project on Mrs. Green's Art Room Website.

  • "Bee" Sharing: E-mail your finished art project to Mrs. Green.

  • "Bee" Creative: Create your own art project.

  • "Bee" Kind: Make a card or picture for someone you love OR "bee" kind by cleaning up your art supplies.

Now that you have your assigned teams and you know how to earn points, let the competition begin!

Go to your grade level to find the MES Spirit art project.

Project Expectations: This is a two week lesson. Based on previous projects this activity would take 2-3 hours.

Have fun!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Week 5/4: Mom deserves the WORLD

Hello my wonderful artist!

Now that we have committed to making a change to help our world, let's celebrate it's beauty!

We should also celebrate someone wonderful this week... MOM! Don't forget this Sunday is Mother's Day! Mom works hard, especially now. We need to celebrate her BIG!

Mom deserves the world.... The Earth Day project would be the perfect gift! We can also make her a card.

Earth Day Projects will be found under your specific grade level this week. If you don't have all of the materials that is okay. Be creative and use what you have. (Do not feel limited to your grade level if you like another one more... do it instead.)

Have fun this week!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Week 4/27: Belated Earth Day K-3

Does anyone know what day it is?!

Obviously I don't... I missed Earth Day! In quarantine I'm going crazy and I'm losing track of what day it is. (Someone send help!)

Oh well! We can roll with it and celebrate a week late.... besides Earth Day should be celebrated every day! Fun fact about me: My favorite thing actually isn't art. It's the environment.

Over the next two weeks you will learn all about Earth Day, take a pledge and create an Earth Day Project. Scroll down and to check out Week 1 of our Earth Day Celebration. I hope you have fun learning and creating!

Love,

Mrs. Green

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is a holiday celebrated around the world on April 22 (or this week) to remind people to take care of our planet.

K-1st: Check out the read aloud stories to learn more.

2nd: Choose the stories or the National Geographic videos.

3rd: Check out the National Geographic video to learn more.

Project Expectations:

Week 1: Listen to 2 stories or watch the National Geographic videos (based on grade level). Parent/child research challenge. Family Pledge. Drawing Challenge.

Week 2: Choose an art project and create! Projects will be posted on 5/4.

K-2 Check out the stories below.

Parent/child research challenge!

In the story Little Critter learns that the ice caps are melting. He wants to save the polar bears from global warming. The first thing he did to help the world was research! He grabbed his dad and went online to see what changes he could make to help the planet.

Do some research: What are the top 10 things you can do to save our planet?

Family Pledge!

In the story Trina celebrates Earth Day. She plants trees, had an Earth Day Trade and turned off the lights when she left a room. Even though we are at home we can still help the earth.

This year my husband and I took a pledge to help our planet. We gave up meat and we started a garden.

We can all help the world in our own way. A lot of small changes can make a big difference! What pledge can your family make to help our planet?

Grades 2-3 Check out the National Geographic Videos

"When enough people come together we too will make waves. Watch the world turn to a new era filled with love and connection. Freedom for all without oppression. But it is up to you to make the effort because time is of the essence. Only together can we make it to the 4th second."

We have the power to make a difference.

Do some research: What are the top 10 things you can do in your life to save our planet?

"No task is to big when done together."

Week 1 Drawing Challenge:

Option 1: Draw the Top 10 things you can do to save our planet. Don't use words! Pictures only!

Option 2: Draw your family taking their pledge to help our planet.

The garden drawing represents the garden I started with my husband.

Week 4/20- Chalk Challenge

I hope you had a wonderful spring break!

There were points in my spring break where my husband and I got a little restless and bored. I think in my boredom I annoyed my cat. Check out Remy... I think she's ready for us to leave the house.

We were spending to much time inside so I set a goal for myself to get out of the house and stay active!

To accomplish my goal my husband and I decided we needed to spend a few hours outdoors every day. To stay active outdoors we have been on a lot of long walks. On our walks we discovered something amazing... sidewalk chalk art in my neighborhood! Art has transformed my neighborhood. On every street color and designs fill the road with inspirational quotes and fun interactive drawings.

This weeks art project is a challenge for all artists in all grade levels. I challenge you to add color to your streets to watch joy and inspiration spread.

Projects will not be listed on individual grade level pages this week. Scroll down for the art project directions and inspiration.

If you do not have sidewalk chalk that is OKAY. Create a masterpiece and hang it in your window to share with your neighbors. Have fun!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Challenge 1: Inspirational Quotes

Make a Plan!

What can you say to your neighbors to bring them joy, hope, or happiness?

Get outside!

Grab your chalk and share your message!

Challenge 2: Interactive Mural.

Muralists often create interactive art.

Interactive art means people can become a part of the final picture.

Make a plan!

Before you begin make a plan!

Create a sketchbook page and draw your design out first.

Think: What color chalk do you have to create a picture?

Get outside!

Grab your chalk and create your interactive mural. Scroll down for some inspiration.

Week 4/13: Spring Animals

Hello my wonderful artists!

I hope you have been outside enjoying the wonderful weather. It is officially spring! Spring is my favorite time of year because the whole world comes alive!

I love seeing the beautiful flowers and baby bunnies when I go on walks. A little bird made a nest on my front door. Over the past few weeks I've watched her sit on four little eggs. A few days ago they hatched! The little babies are so tiny!

This week in we will celebrate spring in the art room. If you can create outside, do it! Go outside and find inspiration!

We don't all have the same art materials at home so I have provided multiple projects in some grade levels. Pick your favorite to create or create them all. If you finish your grade level explore what the others are doing. Have fun and happy spring!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Week 4/6: Finding Happiness

I miss you so much!

Today is my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Dad! My family can't celebrate the same way we usually do but my dad is still happy! Today he gets to hit golf ball in the back yard and eat cheese cake. YUMMM!

Although things are a little different we ALL still have so many things to be happy about. That's why our art word is "happy". This week in the art room you will find what makes you happy in your life and turn it into beautiful art.

If you don't have all of the art materials, that's okay. Be creative! Use what you have at home to create something amazing.

If you finish a project and you want to share, take a picture and e-mail me: Charlotte1.green@cms.k12.nc.us

I will be *happy* to see your masterpiece!

Once you are done check out projects in other grade levels! Keep creating.

Have fun!

Love,

Mrs. Green

Week 3/30: Gratitude

Hello my wonderful artists.

I miss you so much!

We have a new "student" in the art room. Meet Remy!

I have to admit she is terrible at art. She doesn't listen, she steals my pens and she tries to sit on my computer when I'm working! BUT I'm so grateful for her. Shes cute, fluffy and the best friend.

Gratitude means all the things you are thankful for. This week in the art room you will learn to find gratitude in your life and turn it into beautiful art.

If you don't have all of the art materials, that's okay. Be creative! Use what you have at home to create something amazing.

If you finish a project and you want to share, take a picture and e-mail me: Charlotte1.green@cms.k12.nc.us

I would be *grateful* to see your masterpiece!

Have fun creating!

Love,

Mrs. Green and Remy

Week 3/23: Welcome to My Online Art Room

I miss you so much!

Although everyone is at home, don't worry! That won't stop us. We are still artists and we can still create!

You will still have art once a week. Every week I will share a new project. Select your grade level and let's make our world beautiful.

If you don't have all of the art materials, that's okay. Be creative! Use what you have at home to create something amazing.

If you finish a project and you want to share, take a picture and e-mail me: Charlotte1.green@cms.k12.nc.us

I would love to see your masterpiece!
