I have been with CMS since 2007. This is my 12th year teaching 4th Grade at Sharon. Previously, I taught 2nd Grade at Beverly Woods Elementary as well as two 3rd Grade classrooms as an interim teacher here at Sharon Elementary during the 2010-2011 school year. Before that, I was an Instructional Assistant in K-3 classrooms while pursuing my NC Teaching Certification and Licensure. I also received special training to be an instructor for UNCC's highly popular summer Math program called Math CAMMP (Comprehensively Applied Manipulative Mathematics Program). This program enhances children's understanding of math concepts and strengthens their ability to problem solve using a hands-on manipulatives approach.
Teaching Elementary children is a second career for me but I am not new to the education field. Previously, I was a Marketing and Product Development Manager for Medical Devices & Sevices for a large healthcare company.. In addition to leading cross-functional product and service development teams, a key role was education and training implementation for in-house corporate employees and 2,400 healthcare hospital providers.
I have a Masters degree in Business Management from Lesley University and a Bachelors of Arts in Classical Civilizations from Wheaton College. I received my educational license through UNCC and received National Board Certification in 2017 and renewed certification in 2022. I was also honored to be selected as a MeckEd Teacher of Excellence.
My family and I moved to Charlotte from the Boston, MA area in 2003. My husband John and I have two daughters: Jordan 26 and Mariel Rose 24. We also have a torbie cat named Maisie.
I am so looking forward to another great year leading your children as they discover their own learning and develop their own growth mindsets within a supportive classroom community!
