Formal assignments are worth 65% of each students average. Formal assignments include quizzes and tests. There will be plenty of notice before any formal assignment. I do not believe in "pop-quizzes" as formal assignments.
Informal assignments include homework and classwork and are worth 35% of a student's grade. Homework is graded on completion. Therefore if a student completes the homework on time they get full credit - 10/10. If homework is incomplete or late, they receive partial credit - 5/10. Classwork is graded based on accuracy. If a student gets 8 out of 10 problems correct they will earn an 8/10 or 80%.
Students are allowed to re-take any formal assignment in which they scored below a 79%. The student needs to schedule a date with Mrs. Sprenger on when they will come in to take a retest. Most are done during Tuesday morning tutoring sessions, but if a student cannot make it to school early then we will find a time during school hours to re-take the assignment.
In addition, students may turn in any missing assignments up until the very last day of the quarter for partial credit. Partial credit is better than no credit! I have seen grades jump up 4-5 points from students turning in missing homework assignments. Check PowerSchool and our Homework Calendar to identify and download missing homework!
