Building Successful Students suggestions:
1. Keep a family calendar. Include school/PTA and non school events, projects, days off and extracurricular activities.
2. Create a household schedule with a regular bedtime and dinnertime.
3. Clean out bookbags weekly. Use a consistent method to return homework, notes, and envelopes and be sure to tell your child to turn them in.
4. Prepare for AM in PM! Pack the bookbag and majority of the lunchbox at night. Lay out the clothes, socks, shoes, etc.
5. Encourage good study habits. Put supplies in a box or baggie so they are easily used and portable. Keep the area quiet.
6. Set a regular homework time. Let kids unwind after school but don't leave it until right before bedtime.
7. Organize homework assignments. Number assignments in the order they should be done. Should your child tackle hard ones first or get easy ones out of the way? For 'big' projects work on a few parts at a time.
8. Use www.commonsensemedia.org
