Teaching Experience:
I have been employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools since 1993. I have taught at Long Creek Elementary since 1994. I began as an associate teacher in the After School Enrichment Program.
In 1998, I was asked to teach Pre-Kindergarten at Long Creek Elementary with the Bright Beginnings Program. I taught Pre-Kindergarten for eight years.
With enthusiasm, I am eager to begin my twentieth year teaching kindergarten at Long Creek Elementary.
Education:
I have worked to complete several degrees and licenses. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for each degree received. My first degree was a Bachelor of Creative Arts with a license to teach kindergarten through twelve grade creative arts.
My second degree was in early childhood earning a Birth to Kindergarten license.
The final degree was a Master of Education with an emphasis in Special Education and Administration.
I also worked to complete my Infant/ Toddler certification and National Board Certification.
Family Life/Hobbies:
I have a very active family life. I am married and have two children.
My children as well as my husband, Eddie attended Long Creek Elementary.
My son, Joseph graduated from Central Piedmont Community College. He now works at Carolina Caterpillar of Charlotte. He is happily married to Morgan. They have two boys, Houston and Zach.
My daughter, Rebecca completed her masters at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a energy research chemist with a local company.
Eddie attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is the vice-president of a waterproofing company in Charlotte.
I enjoy spending time with my family/friends, volunteering, camping, and traveling.
Philosophy/ Goals:
I strive to meet curriculum guidelines and establish activities to enhance the quality of the classroom learning environment. I enjoy learning new and more appropriate concepts of teaching.
