7th Grade Social Studies Class


*Once Online learning begins it will take place for Mr. Reddersen's class in Canvas. Students can access their Canvas Social Studies Class through their NC EdCloud account. All work will be submitted through their Canvas. Online learning will not begin until an announcement has been made by CMS or Ms. Brooks our CHMS prinicpal.


Course Description: Seventh Grade Social Studies encompasses the world's geography, culture, history, government and economics from the 15th century to the present. Major units of study are:

1. Renaissance & Reformation 5. Industrial Revolution, imperialism, and economic systems

2. Age of Exploration 6. World War I and the Rise of Dictators

3. The Enlightenment 7. World War II

4. Revolutions: France and Russia 8. The Cold War, Globalization, and personal financial literacy

Grading Scale

A= 100-90
B=  89-80
C=  79-70
D=  69 - 60
F=  59 and below

Late Work Policy

  • Work turned in one class late students can earn a maximum of an 80%
  • After more than one class late students can earn a maximum of a 50%
  • Late work will be accepted until the end of the quarter

Test Correction Policy

  • Students can complete test corrections and earn up to a 79%
  • Corrections must be completed and turned in within one week after the testing window closes
  • Students must record the question, the correct answer, and a one paragraph description for why the answer is correct.
