About Me...
I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. Although I have lived in North Carolina for over 25 years, I still miss Tampa's delicious Cuban food and the smell of salt water! I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida and my Master of Business Administration from UNC-Greensboro. The bulk of my career was spent in the managed healthcare industry. Prior to that, I worked in the retail, banking, and chemical distribution industries.
My wife (31 years!), Kim, has spent her career in the Human Resource field. Kim's work experience contributes greatly to the workplace knowledge I bring to the classroom. Kim fully supports me working as a teacher these past 13 years. Thanks Kim!!
I have twin boys. Both came through CHMS. Both graduated AK early at the end of the Fall Semester of 2013. One went to UNC Chapel Hill. He was a four year starter as goalkeeper on the soccer team. He studied psychology. He is finishing his masters in psychology at University of South Florida. He plans to get a PhD in psychology next and work with kids. The other went to the University of South Carolina where he was a four year starter as goalkeeper on the soccer team. He then got his Master of Healthcare Management degree. He has the job he aimed for now and is pretty much off the payroll! They are/were super students and outstanding young men. I am super, super blessed to have my sons! What they have accomplished, they have done on their own. It was never easy, but they did it! I have learned so much from them.
Having three or four nights of soccer practice each week and weekend games and tournaments all those years, I fully understand the pressures felt by the entire family!
I hope that the work knowledge I bring to class, as well as my deep appreciation for kids much like mine, will help me to teach students not just class material, but reinforce the values and ideals that we parents work so hard to teach. I don't just look at your children through the eyes of a teacher, but also through the eyes of a parent. I really, really love teaching these kids at this wonderful school! I also feel blessed to be at a school with such a great team of administrators! (Our administrators work extremely hard to make CHMS a great school!) This is never an easy job, but I do feel very blessed to be able to know and work with these students and their families.
