Creativity, activity, and service (CAS) is at the heart of the MYP and DP. With its holistic approach, CAS is designed to strengthen and extend students’ personal and interpersonal learning.
Creativity: Exploring and extending ideas leading to an original or interpretive product or performance
Activity: Physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle
Service: Collaborative and reciprocal engagement with the community in response to an authentic need

Coaching/volunteering/working concessions for accredited sports or fitness programs and competitions (Ex: Myers Park High School teams, City/town Parks & Recreation programs) **sports can not account for all your service hours**
Helping out at a school event (Ex: set up and clean up at a band or orchestra concert)
Volunteering with health services providers, including hospitals, community clinics, nursing homes, assisted living centers, hospices (Ex: Carolinas Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Hospice Charlotte)
Soup kitchens, food banks, food-collection drives
Emergency shelters/women’s shelters (Ex: Room at the Inn)
Boy Scout or Girl Scout-sponsored service activities
Volunteer at an animal shelter, collect and donate blankets, pet food and snacks to a shelter
Participation in charity fund-raisers (Ex: Crop Walk, Race for the Cure)
Collect and donate books
Religious worship or teaching (including Vacation Bible School)
Campaigning for a political candidate or party
Service for which you are paid (Ex: mowing your neighbor's lawn)
Service for which you earn a grade
Chores/service for family/friends (Ex: washing your parents car, driving your siblings to sports practice)
Babysitting for friends or family
If you are unsure- ask Mrs. Davis or Ms. Lamay for clarification prior to doing the activity
How to enter CAS information into Managebac
Step 1: Go to myerspark.managebac.com
Step 2: Login in to managebac:
Login: school email address
Password: If you have not set up a password, click ‘Forgot Password’ and follow the step to set up a new password.
Step 3: Scroll down on the ‘Welcome Screen’ and click on ‘SA’ which stand for Service as Action
Step 4: Enter Information about your service activity

Step 5: Wait - Mrs. Davis or Ms. Lamay will review your entry
Step 6: Return to Managebac, using steps 1 and 2.
In the top left hand corner click on the 3 horizontal lines; a drop down menu will appear.
Click on IB Manger from the list
Your experience will be listed, a blue thumbs up symbol will be on the right hand side, if your experience has been approved and you can complete your reflection.
Click on the approved experience you entered (Created a donation of food to donate to the Men's Shelter)
Click on the Reflections and Evidence tab
You may upload any pictures or videos your have of the experience or to-do list or schedules you created to complete the experience
Scroll down and write a reflection explaining how you achieved the learning outcomes.
Scroll down and click submit
Click on the summary tab at the top, scroll down to the supervisor review section.
Click ‘Request Supervisor Review’
A pop-up window will appear, click ‘Okay’ your review has now been sent to your supervisor.
Step 6: Wait - Your supervisor will receive an email and be asked to complete a short survey regarding your reflection and add comments.
Step 7: Return to Managebac, using steps 1 and 2.

Click on IB Manger from the list
Scroll down, your experience will appear on the list with a green check mark next to it (meaning your service has been completed).
