Our Reading Block consists of 2 components:
1) Reading Modules is a time where teachers engage students through authentic interactive read alouds. This is where we build strong vocabulary and comprehension skills.
2) Skills block- During skills, students are working on developing their phonics and applying those skills in their reading and writing. Some students might be working on basic letter sounds while others might be working on harder concepts and harder spelling patterns. We are fortunate to have teacher assistants during this time which is needed to truly differentiate the way we need. While the students are working in small groups with the teacher, others might be extending their reading skills with an ipad or playing a skill focused game with a peer.
