Hi! I am Ms. Alvarez and this is my 8th year teaching. I can't believe it!

I am from a small town right in between Niagara Falls and Buffalo New York, on Lake Ontario. I have lived in Charlotte for 8 years and plan to make this my forever home. I have fallen in love with the city and the people! I have one older brother, Tony, who is my best friend, who also lives in Charlotte. I also have two Siberian Huskies named Zeke and Zoey. You will hear a lot about them!

Growing up I knew I wanted be a teacher because I was always playing school and had always looked up to my teachers. Teaching is a strong passion of mine and I love watching my students grow and learn. I have had the honor of being Teacher of the Year twice!

My Education

Canisius College: Buffalo, New York

During my time at Canisius I studied Childhood Education and Special Education and received my Bachelors Degree in May 2013. I had incredible professors and teaching experiences that helped drive my passion to teach and ensure all students receive the education they deserve. I believe all students can and WILL learn!

University of North Carolina at Charlotte: Charlotte, North Carolina

Once I moved from Buffalo, I knew I wanted to further my education. I love to learn and can never stop! At UNCC I studied Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I received my Masters Degree in December 2016. ​
