Physical Science

Physical Science is a rigorous curriculum designed to allow highly motivated students to conduct an in-depth study of the fundamentals in various science domains, including: Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, and Earth Science. In Physical Science, students are expected to work independently on a variety of assignments and accept greater responsibility for their learning. To develop a greater understanding of the processes that shape our everyday lives, the curriculum is designed to build an understanding of the structure and properties of matter, regularities in chemistry and physics, energy changes, chemical reactions, and Laws of Motion. Students will integrate inquiry investigations and a variety of technologies with the study of earth as a system. Students will also be able to work efficiently and safely in a physical science lab. The results of student investigations should be communicated through presentations and formal laboratory reports that show comprehension of course material and the scientific method. Enrichment and integration with other disciplines is encouraged.
