The 2023-2024 school year is almost over and it’s time to start thinking about those summer plans. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is inviting you to take part and spread the word about our upcoming summer learning program, Summer Break: Read, Learn, Explore. The program runs June 1 to July 31.
It’s easy for students, staff, and families to get started:
Sign up at cmlibrary.beanstack.org. All ages can participate so be sure to enroll students, families, and staff.
Track your reading time and activities online to earn virtual badges and prizes. Help us meet our community goal of reading 10 million minutes by July 31.
To complete the Summer Break program, earn at least 1200 points, with at least 600 points (10 hours) earned by reading. 1 minute of reading equals 1 point. 1 activity equals 20 points. Just for signing up, participants will receive a coupon for a free Frosty Jr. from Wendy's and a Charlotte FC sticker. For completing the challenge, babies and children will earn a popular book, drawstring bag, or a water bottle, teens will have the choice of a popular book, drawstring bag, or a water bottle, and adults will have the choice of a water bottle, notebook with pen, or a drawstring bag.
There are two ways to track your reading and activities, the website (cmlibrary.beanstack.org) and a mobile app. The mobile app makes it easy to track your reading and activities on the go. Simply scan your book’s barcode and enter the amount of time you spent reading. It can’t get any easier than that! You can find the mobile app in your app store by searching for “Beanstack Tracker.” One cool feature is to have personalized reading recommendations sent right to your inbox by simply checking a box on the website or app. Another fun feature is adding Friends! This is a great way to challenge each other to read more, as you check your leaderboard to see how you stack up against your friends.
Groups can register together as well, making it easy to see progress towards completion of the Summer Break Challenge.

If a member of the community wishes to object to the use of a resource in the library, CMS Board Policy ASL-M/R outlines the process for this. Please contact Mrs. Segura, Media Coordinator for more information.
