Types of Test Takers
Discuss the different types with your child. Go over strategies that will help them be successful.
Over-Analyzer
Goal: Make a decision and keep working
Strategy: Say to yourself, “What would most people choose?”
Auto-Pilot
Goal: Stay focused
Strategy: Take mini-actions as you read the passages, questions, and answer choices.
Mini-Actions: circle, underline, jot, chunk
Over Confident
Goal: Go back and check over your work
Strategy: After answering all of the questions in the passage-rate them: 1-easy, 2-kind of hard, 3-really hard. Then, check your 1s and 2s.
Guess and Go
Goal: Guess LESS and Go!
Strategy: Say to yourself, “I know the answer is not ____ because…”
