About Our Program

The mission of Mallard Creek Elementary School Counseling Department is to provide equitable access to a school counseling program that is engaging, rigorous, and helps all students achieve their full potential. We empower scholars and families by promoting positive academic, career, and social/emotional development to support students into becoming role models and 21st century leaders.

The vision of Mallard Creek Elementary School comprehensive school counseling program possess the academic achievement and skills to be lifelong leaders in our community and globally competitive society. Our scholars are productive leaders who value the importance of continued academic, social emotional, and career education and who works to foster engaging partnerships with families and the community.

The services that we provide for every student are direct and indirect.


The direct services include:

  • Instruction: teaching the school counseling curriculum to students focused through the lens of selected student standards from the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Students Success.

  • Counseling: provide professional assistance and support to a student or small group of students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change, or other situations impeding student success. (** We do not provide therapy or long-term counseling at Mallard Creek Elementary School. However, we are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs. We can assist students and families seeking resources **).


The indirect services include:

  • Consultation: share strategies supporting student achievement with parents, teachers, and other educators.

  • Collaboration: work with other educators, parents, and the community to support student achievement.

  • Referrals: provide support for students and families to school or community resources for additional assistance and information.
