Mr. Lazaro Memije has been teaching Theatre Arts to young aspiring thespians since 1987 back in Manila, Philippines. Mr. Memije teaches Theater Arts, Mime and Movement and feels honored to be around talented and dedicated young performers at Long Creek Elementary School for Creative Arts. Mr. Memije previously taught at Northwest School of the Arts and served as the Theater Arts Department Chair. He started his career in Mime and Children’s Theatre in 1984 with Teatro Obrero and Dulaang Kamalayan (Theatre of Awareness) Mime Ensemble focusing on mime, masks, and Developmental Theater. With his group, Mr. Memije extensively toured all over the Philippines from 1984 - 1989. He earned a Post Baccalaureate Degree in Theatre Education at UNC – Charlotte, and his knowledge and techniques in Corporeal Mime at L’Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique de Paris in France. He has been creatively collaborating and performing with Omimeo Mime Theater, Charlotte’s premier mime troupe, for the past 26 years.
