I grew up in Wake Forest, North Carolina. I began orchestra in 6th grade, where I started on the violin. In 8th grade, I switched to the bass for one year and then switched back to the violin to begin high school. During the spring semester of my sophomore year of high school I made the permanent switch to viola.
I went to Appalachian State University and received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. I am a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a male music fraternity who's purpose is to Advance Music in America. While in college, I enjoyed hanging out with friends, typically by playing basketball at the rec center. Appalachian State is where I met my wife, Amanda Gentile. Amanda is a professional violinist that plays for multiple orchestras in both North Carolina and Tennessee. She also teaches private lessons on both violin and viola.
Immediately after graduating from App State, I taught orchestra in Nashville, North Carolina. Once that year was completed, I was hired in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools at JM Alexander Middle and Harding University High Schools.
I was a camp counselor for Cannon Music Camp, which is a wonderful music camp for rising freshman in high school to rising freshman in college. Please speak to me if you are interested in learning more about the camp, as it is a great experience for young musicians.
Amanda and I got married the summer of 2017 and we have a 3 year old Pit Bull Mix named Tornado!
