About Me

I began teaching in 1991 and have lived in all time zones in the continental U.S., teaching in various places as my husband and I raised our two children. Reading and yoga are just a few of my passions, as is spending time with family and friends. I have a profound fascination with whales and deep affection for my labrador retrievers.

At The Park I have taught all levels of 10th grade English, advised several clubs, including Clothes For Change and the Public Health Society, participated in Intentional Leadership training, served as a Charlotte Teachers Institute Fellow, and earned National Board Certification. Presently I teach 12th grade IB English.

Canvas Course:

IB English A Literature HL II:

This yearlong class involves a detailed study of various genres and comparative study of one particular genre. The detailed study ultimately results in each student's individual oral commentary, while the comparative study texts are utilized in writing Paper Two, a comparative essay, during IB testing in May. Paper One, an analysis of an unseen work, is composed during IB testing, too. IB English 12 students should anticipate reading closely, annotating each text, memorizing myriad pieces of evidence, and refining critical thinking and writing skills to earn the IB Diploma.
