Hello and welcome to my history class. I was born and raised in Alamance County, North Carolina. After graduating from high school, I graduated with honors from North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor's in History. Currently, I am a grad student at Ashland University working on my Masters in American History and Government. I have added several certifications to my teaching license over the years by completing course work at the following universities: UNC-Pembroke, UNC-Charlotte, and Davidson College. I am certified to teach 6-12 Social Studies, 6-9 Science, AP US History, AP Human Geography, AP Government and Politics, and AP Psychology. I have had the opportunity and pleasure of grading AP US History and AP Government and Politics exams with College Board. I am beginning my 25th year of teaching, and this is my 8th year at Independence. I am the Vendor Coordinator for the NC Council for the Social Studies. I am married to a band teacher who also teaches in CMS. We have two adult children, a son who is an Executive Chef in Michigan, and our daughter is a 1st grade teacher in CMS. In my spare time, I enjoy sewing/embroidering, and a huge fan of Mickey Mouse & Wonder Woman.

On the left is a quilt called Vintage Boardwalk that I made in 2020. I love the Vintage items because of the history. To the right is an embroidered Wonder Woman from the classic cartoon/comics from the 1980s.
