I am excited to be supporting the staff and students of Hough High School this year as media coordinator. While this is my first job as a high school librarian, I have worked in elementary libraries since 2005. The past eleven years were at Cornelius Elementary, where many Hough students once attended.
I grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania but moved to the Carolinas in 1988. I attended Winthrop University in South Carolina for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have taught in South Carolina and Ohio, as well as 4 other schools in CMS.
I live in Cornelius with my husband, son, and rescue dog. My daughter, now 20, was a member of the Hough graduating class of 2019. My son, 12, will attend Hough beginning in 2024. I spend my free time reading (audiobooks, usually), exercising, cooking, doing crosswords, streaming media, and knitting.
The media center will empower students to grow their 21st century literacy skills including developing students into critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users and creators of information.
