Welcome new and returning students, families and faculty to the 2018-2019 school year.
The PTSA kicks off each year with the annual PTSA membership drive; all parents, teachers and students are encouraged to join. Please visit our Membership page for more information and download the Membership Form. Please return your completed form with your cash or check to the Hough High front office in an envelope marked Hough PTSA. This year we have a student membership raffle occurring every Friday in September. All students who join the PTSA by September 18th, 2018 are eligible to win a variety of prizes! Memberships are $6 per person.
The PTSA also sponsors the annual Husky Fund Direct Donation Campaign. This is the PTSA’s major fundraiser for the year. All donations to the Husky Fund are tax deductible and if your employer participates in a matching corporate donation program they can match your contribution as well. These funds along with funds raised through our community partners go towards the following areas:
PTSA Scholarships ● Improved Technology and Software ● Teacher Development ● Classroom Materials ● Student Advocacy ● Student Incentives ● Staff Appreciation ● School Beautification
The Hough PTSA participates in the Harris Teeter Together in Education program. Linking your VIC card will earn money for the school. If you haven’t already relinked your VIC card, we can do that for you. Just fill in the information at the bottom of your green Husky Fund form. This is a great way for the PTSA to earn money at no cost to you. Just purchase Harris Teeter brand products and use your VIC card at the checkout. Hough is also a member of the Publix Partners program. Ninth grade families will receive a Hough Publix card with this packet. All returning families can use what was distributed last year, the cards are still valid. If you are new to the school or need a new card there will be extras in the front office. Shopping online through Amazon Smile is another way to help support Hough. Please select William A. Hough High School PTSA as your charitable organization when you order at www.smile.amazon.com.
This year the Hough PTSA will host restaurant spirit nights at local restaurants. There will one in the fall and one in the spring. Stay tuned for dates and locations in the Howler.
The PTSA also asks you to consider volunteering. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities, even in high school! Your time and talents are greatly appreciated. Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page for more information.
If you have not done so, be sure to subscribe to and read the Hough Howler. This is the main form of communication for our school. Visit our Online Newsletter page for recent newsletters and to sign up to receive it by email. Also, check out our Facebook page and sign up for Twitter news to keep informed of everything at Hough. In addition, the school website has links to many Hough departments including the Student Services website which has great information for everyone.
