Course Description
All levels of Theatre Arts focus on performance in a theatrical setting. Students at all levels learn the basics of performing, stage presence, and acting. As students progress in the program, specific acting styles are studied. Each course culminates in an end of the year performance. Honors Theatre students are required to participate in additional after-school performances.

Course Description
Technical Theatre is a course designed for students interested in the technical aspects of theatre. This course is an extremely hands on experience in which the students will have several practical application projects in which they will be working on technical work for productions in class. Students gain experience in techncial production through classwork and production work outside of the normal school day through our after-school productions.

Course Description
The mission of the Dance Department at Hopewell High School is to provide a platform to communicate ideas, pictures, and thoughts through the dance medium. Students will learn the tools to evaluate, create, and perform through the dance genre. Dance will be a means to explore history, culture, and peers to foster tolerance and an appreciation that will challenge students toward post-secondary education.

Course Description
The Band program at Hopewell High School consists of a variety of ensembles, including: Concert Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and the Titanium Sound Marching Band. The Band also offers Beginning Band courses which offer an introduction to playing for emerging musicians. Some of our ensembles perform in competitions at the state and national level.

AP Music Theory
Course Description
The Hopewell Titan Tones offer various levels of choir classes for all students to enjoy! We will explore the art of both choral and contemporary music and prepare wonderful song selections for our Hopewell community. We currently offer Beginning, Intermediate, and Proficient level courses as well as a Musical Theatre choral specialization course. The upper level (Intermediate and Proficient) courses have the opportunity to audition for, and participate in, multiple North Carolina honors choir clinics with hundreds of other high school students across the state. Proficient Choir is an auditioned Choir and Musical Theatre Choir has a prerequisite of a Hopewell Choir or Theatre class.
Hopewell offers two levels of music theory. Beginning music theory is an entry level course to the craft of music theory where we will learn how to analyze and compose music. We will learn about the notes on the grand staff, improvisational skills, and how to transcribe music in different forms. The AP music theory course will cover similar concepts on a much deeper level. We will learn about sight reading, performing, and analyzing music aurally and dictating the chords and melodies onto the staff. AP music theory has a prerequisite of band/choir/or beginning music theory.

AP Studio Art
Course Description
This studio based course is a study in visual arts through techniques and processes in areas of painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Students will learn more in-depth skills and knowledge in exploring 2D & 3D works. Students in upper level courses
Advanced courses focus on the development of a personal voice and aesthetic in creating art. Students will engage in personal and peer; formal and informal; oral and written critiques. Students will be expected to share their portfolio.

Course Description
In this course, students learn the foundations of art, the process of creating objects, and art inspired by cultural craftsmanship and design, which also includes cultural history. Students study and are tested on a variety of topics in class, including the Elements and Principles of Design, vocabulary, and art criticism within the classroom.

Course Description
Students in ceramics begin with basic ceramic construction techniques, while maintaining artistic freedom. Hand building , wheel throwing , glazing, and firing are all explored. More advanced classes are focused on the student's individual portfolio development.
