IB HOTA II

Course Overview

IB History of the Americas is a 2 year course broken down between scholars Junior and Senior years. The curriculum consists of 3 American History Topics, 2 World History Topics and 1 Case Study. During their Senior year, scholars will write an Internal Assessment Paper on a topic of their choice and complete 3 exams in May that cover the material that they learned in the course.

  • World History Topics:

    • The Cold War: Superpower tensions and rivalry (20th Century)

    • Authoritarian States (20th Century)

  • Case Study: Rights & Protest

    • Civil Rights Movement in the United States (1954-1965)

    • Apartheid South (1948-1964)

  • Internal Assessment Paper

    • Max Word Count 2,200

  • Final Draft due in December

  • May IB Exams

    • 3 exams
