My name is Catherine Fenton and I am the Talent Development teacher at Highland Creek Elementary School.  I am looking forward to collaborating and supporting the students and staff through academic rigor and enrichment.  I especially look forward to working with you and your child during the 2025-2026 school year.

To give you a little info about me, this school year is my 22nd year of teaching; all of those years have been in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School district.  I previously taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.  I was lucky enough to join the fantastic staff at  HCE in October 2016.

I have a Bachelors degree from the State University of NY @ Oneonta in Elementary Education (K-6), a Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Literacy (K-6) from Lesley University. I also obtained my certification in teaching Academically & Intellectually Gifted students from UNCC in 2016 and my Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University in May 2022.

My husband Jon and I have four sons - Jon aka JP (19) who is a sophomore at Coastal Carolina University, Connor (15) who is an 10th grader at Mallard Creek HS, Keegan (11) who is a 6th grader next door at Ridge Road Middle School , and Ryan my 4 year old and the youngest Fenton son.  In addition, I have two cats, Fluffy and Ginger, a German Shepard-mix named Scarlet, and a box turtle named Buster.

Last but not least, I am a HUUUUUGGGEEE Ohio State Buckeyes fan!!
