About Me

My name is Jennifer Hennessy, but everyone calls me Jen. I'm a mom to my six-year-old daughter, Holly,  my two-year-old son, Declan, a dog mom to my Black Lab, Atlas, Golden Retriever, Daisy, and my angel puppy in heaven, Bella, and married my husband, Connor, in May 2022. I am originally from Long Island and moved to North Carolina in 2020. I have been working with children the past 18 years, and seven of those years have been in a teaching capacity. I taught First Grade for three years in New York, and I most recently completed my fourth year at Sharon Elementary this past 25-26 school year and am so excited to be teaching Kindergarten again this year! I also obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) from UNCC in December 2023 and am certified to teach via Orton-Gillingham methods, which is a structured, multi-sensory approach to intensive reading instruction.

This year, I will be teaching your children Literacy and Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. We will also begin our day with a class meeting where we will engage in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), which is a time where students will learn a sense of community and begin their day in a positive way. My goal is to inspire my students both academically and personally and to instill a lifelong love for learning!

Nothing brings me greater joy than teaching and mentoring children, and I wholeheartedly believe that there is so much more to being a teacher than just teaching children academics. To me, being a teacher means being a listening ear, a helping hand, and most importantly a friend. Aside from educational, I try to make learning fun and engaging and create a sense of family within our classroom.
