Welcome to Winter

Hello GVSA friends and families,

  • Parents: It is important for students to read: digital books, print books, magazines, etc. anything that will build their reading skills. Please take time to read with younger students pointing out how pictures tell a story along with words. Also, please help your child keep up with their library books so they my choose others. Please check out ideas on literacy options for your child on this website under "Resources and Tools" and "Digital Libraries" tabs.

  • Checking out books from the library: It is important that students learn how to find books that interest them and practice reading skills. K-2nd grades are allowed to checkout one book at a time, while 3rd and 4th grades are allowed to check out two books at a time. Occasionally they may earn an extra book check out. Reminder notices for overdue books will be sent out at the end of each quarter. If you receive a “book return reminder notice” please help your child look for their book to return, so they may check out another one. If a child damages or loses a book they will be asked to pay for the book. This payment maybe made online through our school website under the "Online School Payments" tab, then the "Media" tab. Please contact me with any questions at Pamela.alwran@cms.k12.nc.us
