Help Sheet
Here is the link for a help sheet. It is just like those yellow paper help sheets in school and I will be the only one reading it. I will keep everything confidential except if you are being harmed or want to harm yourself or someone else. In that case, I would need to talk with someone else to get more help.

Ms. Clyburn-Johnson is the counselor for all 7th grade students
Ms. Case is the counselor for all 8th grade students
We are happy to discuss your concerns regarding your child. Please email your counselor with concerns. Due to the nature of our position, we are serving children and are often not in the office. If you would like to meet with your child’s counselor, please email her to set up an appointment to ensure that time is set aside in order to fully attend to your needs. If you have an emergency please contact the main office.
Parent conferences are held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays during specific times (teacher planning blocks):
6th Grade – 12:25 & 12:55
7th Grade – 10:30 & 11:00
8th Grade – 2:10 & 2:40
At Piedmont, we meet as teams. When a meeting is scheduled, you will meet with your child's core teachers (LA, Math, Sci & SS). If you would like to meet with an individual teacher, please contact the teacher directly.
Please contact your child's grade level school counselor to schedule a team conference.
In addition, we often correspond by email as teams. Do not be surprised if you see all of your child's teachers, counselor and administrator on email correspondence.
We look forward to getting to know all Piedmont students and helping them have successful and rewarding middle school years.
All parents have signed a magnet compact and Piedmont’s IB contract. Please remember that IBMYP is an accelerated program and that the core class will not offer remediation for students performing below grade level. Parents and students are expected to monitor grades via Power School. Progress reports are sent home for students receiving grades of D or F. Students must pass Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies (Individuals and Societies), Health & PE, and an Elective (Encore) in order to be promoted to the next grade and remain at Piedmont. Students must pass World Language, complete the required Community & Service hours/Community & Service Project, and demonstrate continuing acquisition of technology skills in order to remain in the IB program. Failure to meet the IB Magnet requirements will result in removal from the program and return to the home school. Transportation is in accordance with magnet procedures.
Seventh grade students need to meet CMS standards in order to be promoted.
The eight grade registration process begins in early spring. Students will receive specific details about this second semester from Ms. Johnson.

Bullying & Harassment
Bullying & harassment are serious concerns. Students are instructed to immediately tell an adult should they experience bullying & harassment. Students have been directed to complete a Help Sheet in order to meet with the counselor should they have any kind of concern. Help Sheets are available both outside and inside of Student Services. The Help sheet process is explained to parents at Parent 101. To preserve trust and confidentiality parents are generally not contacted should a child fill out a Help Sheet. However, students are encouraged to share with their parent as the situation is addressed in alignment with Piedmont practices. The Help Sheet process is explained to students at the beginning of the year, with refreshers throughout the year - via Advisory, cafeteria announcements, scrolling announcements and discipline assemblies. Should you have any questions about this process please contact your child's counselor. Parents, please contact your grade level administrator to report any concerns regarding bullying & harassment.
CMS Bullying Definition: Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.
