Hello! My name is Erik Hoover. My wife and I moved here from Indiana almost 16 years ago, right after graduating from college and getting married. She and I both work at Blythe Elementary. She is a dedicated 5th grade teacher, who loves working with students! Recently, we had our first child and we've been enjoying that adventure so far.
I enjoy hanging out with family and friends. I have a passion for sports and math. My favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (football), Indiana Hoosiers (basketball), and the Chicago Bulls. My friends and I play slow pitch softball, and I enjoy golfing and bowling, when I have time. My friends and I also use math to project stats for football players, which is a fun hobby.
I'm proud to be the Math Facilitator/IB Coordinator at Blythe Elementary. This is my first year in this role, and I've enjoyed it so far. I worked at Piney Grove Elementary for 15 years! I taught 5th grade for 8 years and was Math Facilitator for 7 years. I met many of my personal friends at Piney Grove, over the years. Some of my former students are now teachers. I guess that means I'm getting old!
I went to college in Indiana and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. I earned my Master's degree from UNCC in El. Ed., and have my National Board Certificate as well. I recently had the privilege of teaching a math education course at UNCC. It was a fun experience!
