Endhaven's School Counselors

VISION: The vision of Endhaven's Comprehensive School Counseling program is to provide a safe school atmosphere, promoting kindness, and encouragement as students work to reach their full potential in academic, career, and personal and social emotional development.

MISSION: The mission of Endhaven's School Counseling program is to promote the development of productive and responsible citizens by ensuring the academic, career, and social emotional growth of all students.

The goal of all counseling services is to remove barriers that impact academic achievement.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

School Counselors provide short-term individual counseling services for students to address a specific topic of concern. Referrals for individual counseling may be received from students, school staff, or parents and guardians. School Counselors will meet individually with a student regarding a specific topic 6-8 times. If continued support is needed, referrals for long-term support may be provided.

SMALL GROUP COUNSELING

School Counselors provide small group counseling services for students throughout the school year. Students are referred to small groups based off of data and the needs of students. Small group sessions cover a variety of topics, such as social skills, coping skills, friendship skills and more.

CLASSROOM COUNSELING LESSONS

School Counselors provide classroom counseling lessons to grades K-5 throughout the school year. Lessons topics are determined by the needs of each grade level. Lessons topics from previous school years addressed bullying prevention, conflict resolution, coping skills, managing anxiety, career and college readiness, feelings, teamwork, child abuse prevention, affirmations and mindsets, study skills, kindness and middle school transition.

RESPONSIVE SERVICES

School Counselors are available to support all staff and students when a critical situation arises. School Counselors are available during the school day to intercede when a situation greatly impacts a student's personal, social emotional or academic development.

SECTION 504

Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act provides accommodations and/or services for students with physical and/or mental impairments which substantially limits one or more major life activities. Please contact your student's School Counselor with any Section 504 needs or concerns.

MCKINNEY VENTO

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is federal legislation that ensures the educational rights and protections of children and youth experiencing homelessness. The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless children and youth as individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. Dr. Crawford, School Social Worker, serves as the McKinney Vento Liaison for Endhaven Elementary School. Please contact Dr. Crawford or the School Counselors with any McKinney Vento needs or concerns.

CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT

School Counselors maintain a high level of confidentiality. Since services are provided in a school setting, limited information may be shared with others on a need to know basis. In order to build trust, information shared by students during a counseling relationship remains confidential. School Counselors will not keep information confidential if someone is hurting a student, if the student wants to hurt someone else or if the student wants to hurt himself or herself.
