If your student is interested in an acting/ speaking role in "Shrek the Musical Jr." please follow the steps below to submit an acting audition video. This is not required in order to get into Encore Ensemble, but will be required if they want an acting/ speaking role.
Acting Audition videos are due September 5th.
Step 1: Select a Scene to Perform
Of the scenes/ roles listed below, have your student rehearse as if they were playing one of the characters. Try to pick a scene that will highlight their acting talents. Just because they read for one character does not mean we will not consider them for other parts (example: a student reads for Donkey, but may end up getting cast as Gingerbread Man). Have them rehearse several times with a partner and use enthusiasm, characterization in their voice and body, while also not staring at a script. You may submit as many videos as you would like to Mr. Hood with as many different roles as you would like.
ONLY REHEARSE THE ACTING LINES IN THE LINKS BELOW- DO NOT WORRY ABOUT ANY OF THE SHEET MUSIC
Step 2: Film Their Audition
After your performer is well rehearsed- film their performance on a smart phone. They should have another person (parent, sibling, etc) off camera to read the other role in the scene while they perform. At the beginning of the video, please have your student start off by introducing themselves by saying their first and last name, and what part they are performing. The student should try their best to remember the part (not stare at a script), use enthusiasm and characterization in their voice and body, and deliver their lines to the camera.
Step 3: Submit Their Video
Use the form below to submit their audition video. We will reach out in the near future about possible callbacks if we need to see more of your performer's capabilities. Please make sure you also complete all the necessary steps to audition for Encore Ensemble that are listed on the homepage of this website. We will likely have acting callbacks for roles on a morning before school, as well as solo callbacks for main cast roles. These times will be announced at a later date through parent square if we need to see more of their acting and/or singing ability. There is no guarantee that your student will be cast as the role that they audition with. There is high interest in the production so there is a possibility your student may not be cast in the production, or only cast in the ensemble (which there are many other dance and singing opportunities with as well). If you have difficulty submitting the video through the form please send it directly to bradleyp.hood@cms.k12.nc.us
