Introduction to Adobe Applications is a project-based course that introduces the creative and technical skills in the Graphic and Design Career Pathway using Adobe software. This course is designed to be a foundation that will prepare students for classes aligned to five Adobe certifications. English language arts and literacy are reinforced. Apprenticeships and cooperative education are possible for this course. Students will learn project management/collaboration, design, research/communication, professional digital photography, illustration and page layout using Adobe tools.
Project based learning is a student centered model of teaching that involves a phenomenal classroom, teacher-student approach. In which is believed that students acquire a deeper understanding through active discovery and are able to apply real-world applications
My goal is to partner with my students to best self-advocate in and out of the classroom. Students may email me at any time; from their student email account to ask questions, set up a time before or after school to meet, or inform me of issues they may be having. I also welcome all parent communications.

Objectives for Introduction to Adobe:
1.00 File Packaging (10%):
Demonstrate knowledge of effective file packaging to reach target audience and platform.
2.00 Photoshop (20%):
Demonstrate knowledge of capturing digital images and access them in Photoshop.
Demonstrate knowledge of basic image creation, editing and manipulation in Photoshop.
Demonstrate ability to incorporate Photoshop skills into InDesign work.
3.00 InDesign (20%):
Demonstrate knowledge of how to prepare page layouts for publishing to print.
Demonstrate ability to incorporate Photoshop skills into InDesign work.
4.00 Illustrator (20%):
Demonstrate knowledge of how to use drawing and shape tools in Illustrator.
5.00 Dreamweaver (10%):
Demonstrate ability to create web page content that is relevant to the website purpose and appropriate for the target audience.
6.00 Premiere (20%):
Demonstrate knowledge of how to organize, plan and edit a video sequence.
Demonstrate knowledge of using still images to enhance video content.
Career Management:
This course prepares students to locate, secure, keep, and change careers. Emphasis is placed on self-assessment of characteristics, interests, and values; education and career exploration; evaluation of career information and creation of a career plan. Based on the National Career Development Guidelines, skills learned in this course include, but are not limited to communications, interpersonal skills, problem solving, personal management and teamwork.
English language arts are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include business/industry field trips, internships, job shadowing, and service learning. Student participation in Career and Technical Student Organization, (CTSO) competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.
