Course Background:
Events that happened hundreds of years ago or thousands of miles away can have a powerful impact on our lives today. During the course of the 2019-2020 school year, seventh grade students will continue to expand upon the knowledge, skills and understanding acquired in the sixth grade. Seventh graders will study the world from the Age of Exploration to contemporary times in order to understand the implications of increased global interactions. This course will guide students through patterns of change and continuity with a focus on conflict and cooperation, economic development, population shifts, political thought and organization, cultural values, and the impact of environment over time.
This year students will take an education journey through the years 1400-present day. Students will learn about:
Geography, The Renaissance and Reformation, The Age of Explorations, The Enlightenment and Age of Revolutions, Agricultural and Industrial Revolution, Imperialism, World Wars and Cold War, Current Era.
Classroom Procedures:
Please do not bring food, drink, gum, or other personal items into the classroom.
Calmly enter the room, collect your notebook, go to your assigned seat, and begin working on the “Warm-Up”
Be sure to clean up your work space, the floor, and return any materials you may have used in their proper place.
All students must be quiet and in their seats before they will be dismissed!
Textbook: World History
Absent Policy:
If a student has been absent, he/she must check the “Assignment Calendar” and “Absent Folder” for any missed warm-ups, activities, assignments, and/or journals. The student must sign the sheet next to the “Absent Folder” to indicate that they have checked the folder. The student must then check with other students at his/her area for additional instructions. After a student has signed the "Absent Folder" and has checked with other students, they see the teacher for additional instructions, explanations, or materials.
