Hi! My name is David Milligan and I am the Literacy Facilitator at Piedmont and an AIG Lead for Central Learning Community 2. This is my 18th year at Piedmont Middle and my 24th overall. I taught 7th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies in New York City for 6 years. I graduated from Pace University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organization Speech Communication and a Master's in Secondary Education. I was an ELA teacher at Piedmont for my first 16 years before transitioning to my current position. I was the Central Learning Community Teacher of the Year and one of 7 finalists for CMS Teacher of the Year in 2010. I earned my National Board Certification in English Language Arts in 2010.

I strongly believe in treating every child in the manner in which I want educators to treat my own child. That is, with respect and a sense of responsibility to protect and teach with passion and dedication. I assist the staff in teaching an interdisciplinary curriculum that follows the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.

I am also the head coach of the girl's basketball team. The Lady Pirates have won the league championship 11 out of the last 12 seasons.
