Suggested Activities for Rising Kindergartners
Build Print Concepts
Practice writing letters in sand, shaving cream, or building with Playdoh
Build alphabet and sound fluency in a fun way.
Write and draw often. Build grocery lists, to do lists and write letters to friends and family
Read Aloud – discuss the story and respond to the text.
Practice telling stories using pictures
Write most letters of their name, would like whole name....and recognize those letters out of order
Rote Counting 1-any higher number
Number Identification
Counting Sets of Objects to 5 or higher
Build with blocks and Legos
Draw with paint, markers and crayons using straight lines and curves
Cut and glue
Provide opportunities to be creative!
