Cougar Institute
Cougar Institute is a transitional program for all incoming 9th graders. The program is designed to create a smaller, more personal learning community that will foster high academic and social expectations. Cougar Institute also provides support for those needing academic remediation while providing transitional classes for all freshmen to promote success throughout high school. The rigorous nature of Cougar Institute classes will prepare all freshmen for one of the 4 pathways options in grades 10-12. The pathway options are Marketing, Engineering, Biomedical Exploration, Game Art Design, and Graphic & Digital Design.
Cougar Institute Mission
The Mission of the Cougar Institute (CI) is to provide a smooth transition for every student from middle to high school regardless of previous academic performance, family background, socioeconomic status, race, or gender. It is our purpose to improve the overall culture of our high school by providing a solid foundation of rigorous academic expectation, while fostering positive growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes. The entire Cougar Institute Team pledges itself to these student outcomes through PROWL

By the end of 9th grade, scholars will be better able, on their own, to interpret and connect the goals and expectations of the Cougar Institute, to justify and explain the importance of becoming highly achieving academic scholars that can successfully navigate through high school. Cougars are always on the PROWL.
