Welcome to Marketing. In this course, I will:
· Encourage students to think critically about the business world
· Stress the integration of and articulation with academics such as language arts, mathematics, and social studies
· Provide a foundation to support advanced study in business
· Enable students to acquire broad understandings of and skills in Marketing
· Enable students to understand and use technology to perform classroom activities
· Stress the importance of interpersonal skills in diverse societies
· Foster a realistic understanding of the business environment in which marketing activities are performed
· Foster an understanding and appreciation of business ethics
· Utilize a variety of types of interactions with the business community

Expectations
As responsible young adults, you will be afforded respect and you will be accountable for your actions. Because of this, many things will be expected of you. First, and foremost, is for you to conduct yourself in accordance with the Behavioral Code as outlined in the Student Handbook. This code not only applies to your conduct in the classroom, but also on campus. Violations of this code and their consequences are outline, Read it and become familiar with it.
Second, come to class prepared (notebook, pencil and/or pencil). You are expected to be in your seat before the sound of the tardy bell. You are not to be standing out in the hall or at the door waiting for the tardy bell. While waiting for the tardy bell, take care of your needs-sharpen your pencil, get tissue, etc.
Third, you are to observe the following: Stop talking when the teacher asks for your attention. Stay in your seat. You may or may not have assigned seats. Do not get up during class to take trash to the wastebasket or to wander to another student’s seat to get something.
Do not disrupt the class! If you do not want to be here, remember that this course is a state testable subject. If you do not intend to do any work because you do not want to be here, then all I ask is that you respect the rights of other students and do not disrupt my class, or not to come to class, then I will respect you decision and I will give you the appropriate grade.
Dress code violations will be dealt with by having the student who is in violation sit in ISS until they have appropriate attire to change into. See Vance High School Dress Code

No sleeping in class! That means literally and mentally.
NO VULGAR LANGUAGE OR EXCESSIVE USE OF PROFANITY.
Continues violation of the class rules and the student behavioral code will result in not only discipline proceeding but also denial by me for any special privilege such as field trips, school club membership, and school athletics.
Assignments posting. Please note in order that no false grades are perceived. At the creation of assignments, a 0 will be placed as the grade until that work is completed. This will serve as a reminder to both teacher and students that the work needs to be completed.
Assessments. These account for 70% of student’s quarter grade. Informal assessment re linked to specific objectives and include a variety of assignments such as warm-ups, notebook checks, quizzes, group work, in-class task, class participation, etc…
Remediation/Reassessment: Students who score a 50% or below MAY retest after completing remediation but can only receive a higher grade of 80%. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate and complete the remediation and the retest process within 5 days of the original test date of make other arrangements, which are agreed to by the teacher. The second test may be in a different format, but should maintain the rigor of the initial test.
Late Work. Students will receive a maximum of 75% grade for working turned in the next day at the beginning of the glass. After this date, work turned in subsequently will be at 50% and so forth.
VANCE GRADING POLICY
Coursework will be assigned so that 30% of the student’s grade comes from daily activities, homework, quizzes, and classwork, with the other 70% coming from scores on major assessments, essay assignments, and major projects. Assignments within each category will be worth different point values based on the expectations of those assignments. Homework will be due on the assigned day at the beginning of the class.
A: 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60
F: 59-below

AS A PARTICIPANT IN MARKETING CLASS, I WILL BE USING VARIOUS TYPES OF TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS COMPUTERS, HEADSETS, CHROMEBOOKS AND PRINTERS IN THE CLASSROOM. I WILL BE HELD PERSONALLY ACCOUNTBLE FOR THE USE AND CARE OF SUCH EQUIPMENT EACH DAY. IF THE EQUIPMENT IS DELIBERATELY DAMAGED, A FINANCIAL OBLIGATION WILL INCUR AND THE STUDENT/PARENT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE FEES.
BY SIGNING THE FORM, I AM INDICATING THAT I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR USING ALL EQUIPMENT IN AN APPROPRIATE MANNER. HANDING IN OR LEAVING ALL OF MY ASSIGNED EQUIPMENT IN PROPER WORKING CONDITIONS.
