Trauma Informed Strategies for Educators aims to increase staff knowledge and skills relating to educating students impacted by trauma by providing specific strategies that can be implemented in the classroom and schoolwide. This courses is recommended for whole schools and departments, but can be completed by individuals who are independently interested in the content. This format option is asynchronous; the individual engages in learning and collaborative online discussions to increase trauma informed practices throughout their department, school and/or classroom. Individuals will walk away with concrete ways to increase the trauma informed practices within their school/department in order to improve their Trauma Sensitive Schools Organizational Self Assessment (TSS-OSA) results shared through Navigator. Due to the volume of individuals who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) this course improves core practices within the schools. An additional module is included for those in the Handle With Care initiative to better understand how to support the students who are identified by law enforcement as having been present at the site of a potentially traumatic experience.
