In this unit, we will integrate Social Studies and Science topics in our Expeditionary Learning (EL) Literacy Module 3: Trees are Alive
Some topics that will be covered include:
- Living and Nonliving Things
- Needs of Living Things
- Interconnectedness of living things
- Cycles of Life
In this unit, we will integrate Social Studies and Science topics in our Expeditionary Learning (EL) Literacy Module 2: Weather Wonders.
Some topics that will be covered include:
- The four seasons & their effect on the weather
- How weather is the same/different in countries around the world
- How people prepare or respond to the weather
- Tracking weather based on observations made using one or more of their senses
- Summarizing daily weather conditions, noting changes that occur from day to day
In this unit, we will integrate Social Studies and Science topics in our Expeditionary Learning (EL) Literacy Module 1: Toys and Play.
Some topics that will be covered include:
- Explain how people change over time (self and others).
- Explain the impact of how life events bring change (a new sibling, moving to a new house, a new job, a new school,
etc.).
- Identify locations in the classroom using positional words (near/far, left/right, above/beneath, etc.).
- Explain how families have needs and wants.
- Explain how jobs help people meet their needs and wants.
- Explain similarities in self and others
- Explain the elements of culture (how people speak, how people dress, foods they eat, etc.).
- Compare the relative position of various objects observed in the classroom and outside using position words such as: in front of, behind, between, on top of, under, above, below and beside.
- Give examples of different ways objects and organisms move (to include falling to the ground when dropped ): • Straight • Zigzag • Round and round Back and forth • Fast and slow
