Class Information

Attendance
Instruction begins at 8:00am. If your student is tardy, please have them go to the office to get a tardy pass before going down to class. Student absences should be reported using the link here: https://sharonschoolpta.org/absent/
Agendas
Agendas will come home the first week of school. Your student will use this agenda to record any notes or assignments. Please check your student's agenda nightly. I will also use the agenda as well as email to communicate with you if needed.
Assignments
All students are encouraged to read at least 20 minutes each night. Your student can read in any way they enjoy. This can be a physical book, e-book, reading to a parent/sibling, listening to a read aloud, etc. Students may also have an occasional math assignment to complete. Please have students complete their assignments and turn them in the next day.
Birthdays
Birthdays are exciting! Here are some options for celebrating your student's birthday:
Non-Food Items: You may send in a small non-food item for each student. Some examples might be slinkies, stickers, pop-its, pencils, fun erasers, etc. The students love getting items to take home in celebration of their classmate's birthday! This option also ensures that all students can participate in birthday celebrations, regardless of dietary needs/food allergies.
Read Aloud: You may schedule a time to visit and read aloud one of your student's favorite picture book to the class. If you would like to schedule a time, please email me and I will get back to you with availability.
Food Treat: You may send in a small food treat to be passed out at the end of the day. Please make sure treats are store bought and prepackaged with ingredients labels visible. Please keep in mind that due to specific food allergies and dietary needs, not all students may be able to enjoy food treats. Thanks for helping protect our classmates!
Blue Folders
Your student will receive a blue folder with the Sharon logo. This folder will go home daily and be returned to school daily. There are 2 pockets in this folder. One pocket is for papers/notes/assignments that need to be returned to school. The other pocket is for papers/notes/assignments that are to be kept at home. Please have your student bring this folder to school every day.
Class Website
The website will be updated weekly with our class newsletter. I will also email this newsletter to the class distribution list each week. Please read the newsletters weekly to stay up to date with what we are learning and doing at school.
Contact Information
Email is the best way to reach me. My email address is alisonp.blair@cms.k12.nc.us. I check my email in the morning before school and in the afternoon after dismissal, I am not always able to check email during the school day. If there is an emergency or time sensitive issue, please call the office at (980) 343-6725 and they will contact the classroom.
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be submitted in writing. Students may not go home a different way without written notification. Please send in a note, write a note in your student's agenda, or use the link here to submit transportation changes: https://sharonschoolpta.org/ride/
Snacks
We will have a short snack time in the morning each day. Your student may bring a snack from home to eat during this time. Please have them bring snacks that they are able to open and eat independently, and that are not messy/do not require utensils.
