STUDENTS MUST ALWAYS ADHERE TO THE CRITERIA FOR CREDIT WHICH IS DETAILED BELOW WHEN DOING MATH WORK!!!!
It is extremely important that both student and parent understand the following;
This is an advanced college-prep course, and the student will need to demonstrate a high level of responsibility throughout the class. When an assignment is given (unless noted), it is due the next day. The pace of the course will be very fast, resulting in more frequent test/quizzes.
Formal = 70% of your grade.
- Includes formal exams and large projects
Informal = 30% of your grade
- Includes classwork, quizzes, homework and other assignments.
Thursday afternoons from 2:20-3:15. Students should seek extra help at the first signs of struggle. This point cannot be stressed enough. Tutoring is for those students who are doing what is expected during class (including all homework and participation) but still need extra help. Tutoring is not for re-teaching. Students are expected to bring work specific to what they are struggling with and ask questions.
Re-test Policy: You may retest on any test that you score below a 79 on. In order to retest you must have turned in all homework for the unit and completed test corrections. The highest score possible on the retest is a 79, and regardless of the score, the retake grade is what counts in the grade book. You have two weeks (10 school days) from the day your test grade is returned to retest. If the retest is not taken in that time frame, you lose the opportunity.
A. Tests: If you are absent, the test must be made up before the next unit test or it will be counted as a zero.
B. Homework: All Students will be given an assignment sheet the beginning of every unit as well as the due dates. It will be noted if students need to stop in and get a worksheet to complete the assignment. Please stop in as soon as you return to school so you do not get behind. Missed HW in math needs to be completed as soon as possible or it could hinder future learning in upcoming lessons.
C. Notes and Assignments: When a student misses a class it is the responsibility of that student to get the notes and assignment missed from another student in class. Always choose a student who takes good notes. All in class assignments missed must be completed including warm ups and classwork.
