The gist
Welcome to English 3! This 16-week course will cover a wide variety of literature, language, society, & history. We will read and interpret multiple print and non-print sources as we dissect novels, short stories, plays, poems, films, television, music, and other relevant sources that pertain to the understanding of the English classroom.
The primary focus of this class is to develop deeper comprehension skills by making personal connections, as well as historical and cultural links. Together, we will develop a stronger analytical skillset, which will provide use for everyday life (even if it isn’t immediately apparent).

Respect is key to success of our classroom. Put-downs, foul language, and inappropriate comments/conversations will result in a write-up and parent contact. Offensive comments regarding gender, sexuality, race, economic background, intelligence, favorite TV show, type of pets owned, fantasy football team, etc. will not be tolerated. You're smart. Just think before you speak.
Above all, I want you to know that I am here for you. My end game is for all of you to succeed, and I know that you can. I am always available for help. I can answer any questions, and make time for whatever you find important, be it your life, the future, movies, music, the outside world – anything. It'll be a great semester.
