Coach Nelson has been teaching and coaching for 33 years and this is her 7th year at MP. Married to Vernon for 33 years and has two children, Quinn (29) and Haley (26). Coach Nelson and her husband played basketball at Presbyterian College and she graduated in '85 with a BS in Psychology with a guidance counseling certificate. Coach Nelson is also certified in Health and Physical Education. Before coming to MP, Coach Nelson taught and coached at Providence Day School and Wingate University.
During the summers of 2010 & 2011, Coach Nelson was the head coach for USA Basketball 16 & under and 17 & under teams. She led both teams to Gold Medals in the FIBA Americas Tournament ('10) and FIBA World Championship ('11). Coach Nelson led the Mustangs to back to back 4A State Championships in 2013 & 2014. She also led Providence Day to 7 State Championships in basketball and 1 in softball.

Women's basketball tryouts October 31 at 2:30. Student athletes must have completed the Ticket to Play found on the Main MP athletic website. Paperwork should be completed and submitted by Oct. 12th.
