Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Blythe Elementary IB World School! It truly is a great place to be!
Mrs. Anastos - Hello! My name is Ms. Anastos and this is my second year teaching at Blythe. I graduated from UNCC with a degree in Elementary Education. Teaching is a true passion of mine and I am honored to be teaching your child this year. My fiancé (Trevor) and I will be getting married on October 6th. Trevor and I have a 6 year old lab named Bubba. Some of my hobbies are cooking and crafting. I am very excited to be a member of the Blythe family, and I am even more excited to be your child's second grade teacher.
Mrs. Baker - Hello! My name is Kelly Baker and I am so blessed to be a part of the Blythe team! This is my eighth year teaching at Blythe and I absolutely love my job. I obtained my Bachelor's of Science from Appalachian State University, and my Master's Degree in Teaching Elementary Education from UNC Charlotte. I have a wonderful husband named Scott, and we have two daughters, Carlee (15) and Ava (13). Outside of teaching second graders, I love spending time with my family and our two big dogs - Milo (the Doberman) and Madison (the German Shepherd), going to the beach, and working in our yard. I am excited for this school year and look forward to learning and having fun with your children!
Mrs. Brown - Hi Blythe Families! We are so excited to have your IB scholars in 2nd grade this year. This is my seventh year teaching at Blythe and I love our school community. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in marketing and management and I received my certificate of teaching in elementary education from UNC Charlotte. I was in Financial Services for 12 years and decided to go back to school to fulfill my calling to teach! I'm originally from Asheville, NC and I love living in the Lake Norman area. I spend a lot of time with my husband, Brad, my son Chase (14), and our black lab, Pippi (7). We are huge sports fans, especially with the Carolina Panthers and the Clemson Tigers!!! I'm looking forward to a great year and a lot of fun in 2nd grade!
Mrs. Daughtry - Hi there! I am so excited to be at Blythe teaching 2nd grade! I am going into my 17th year of teaching. I taught 3 years in 3rd grade and 9 years in 5th grade. This will be my sixth year teaching 2nd grade and I think this is my favorite age! I have been married to my husband, Drew, for 17 years. We have two wild, but caring kiddos. Our daughter, Emma Parker, is 10 years old. She attends Blythe and will be a 5th grader this year! I cannot believe this is my last year with her at school. I'm going to cherish every moment and go on every field trip I can. Our wild, but snuggly son, Easton Major, is 5 years old and will be a Kindergartner at Blythe this year! Look out world! Never a dull moment in our household, but I love every minute. :) I am a HUGE Auburn Tigers fan as well! War Eagle!
Ms. Denton - Hi there! My name is Ms. Denton! I recently graduated with UNCC. I have taken the place of Mrs. Moody, so I'm excited to be at Blythe for the remainder of the year.
Ms. Foye - Hola familias! Hello families! I'm Ms. Breckenridge, Ms. Breck, or Ms. B, I go by all three! I've been teaching at Blythe for a little over 8 years. I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I earned my bachelor's degree with minors in International Studies and Foreign Language. I have three wonderful daughters. Anastasia is my oldest and working towards earning her degree in nursing at WSSU. Aaron, the middle child, is working hard as a sweets baker. Azarra, the youngest- "My Best Baby", graduates in 2 more years. I secretly don't want her to leave me, but don't tell her. I allow her to think that I am ready to be completely free, but I'm not. My favorite thing to do is spend time on the beach, listening to the waves crash into one another and watching the sun set and rise. I look forward to learning all of your favorite things to do academically and socially!
Mrs. Ollis - My name is Tori Ollis. This is my fourth year at Blythe. I've been teaching for ten years! I have taught fifth grade, third grade, and second grade at Lake Wylie Elementary. I graduated in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from Erskine College. I was born and grew up in Charlotte. I got married last October to my fiance, Danny! We have a golden retriever named Luna who is a year old. I love to paint, read mysteries, and watch sci-fy and action movies! I am so excited to have the opportunity to make a difference in your child's life.
Mrs. Palos - Greetings second grade families! My name is Dana Palos (paw-los) and this will be my 18th year of teaching, all of which have been in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. I feel honored to be your child’s teacher this year! Teaching is a true passion of mine and I’m excited to work together to help your child achieve their fullest potential. I graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2001. In 2007, after a yearlong project and an extensive test, I earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education and went through the renewal process in 2016. This will be my 14th year teaching at Blythe Elementary. I also have my license in English as a Second Language. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and we are the proud parents of two amazing kids--Sophia (age 8) and Landon (age 4.) While they take up much of my free time, some hobbies I enjoy are traveling, digital scrap-booking, and photography.
