Biography
First Sergeant Daniel Ferriero is an Army Instructor for the JROTC program at Hopewell High School. First Sergeant Ferriero joined the Army in 1980. He trained as an infantryman and served tours of duty in the United States, Germany, Korea, Hawaii, Somalia, Greece, Australia, and Haiti. He is an Operation Restore Hope, Provide Hope, in the African Nation of Somalia. And Operation Provide Comfort in Haiti veteran. He has served in numerous leadership positions such as team leader, squad leader, drill sergeant, senior drill sergeant instructor, platoon sergeant, operations sergeant, Physical security non-commissioned officer, Training and Operations NCO and Company First Sergeant.
He is a graduate of both the Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Advanced Non Commissioned Officers Academy. He is also Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army First Sergeant’s Course. He has earned a plethora of awards and decorations to include the Order of Saint Maurice, Member of the Audie Murphy Club, the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Airborne badge, Air Assault Badge, Army Pathfinder, Drill Sergeant Badge, and both the Expert Infantryman and Combat Infantryman Badge. His last assignment on active duty was company First Sergeant of a basic combat training company at Ft Jackson SC.
First Sergeant Ferriero retired in April 2003 after over 22 years of service in the Army. First Sergeant Ferriero has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and teaches ROTC 1 & 2 at Hopewell High School. He has been teaching JROTC since 2003 and has been an instructor at Hopewell High School since 2005. First Sergeant Ferriero is the Head Coach of the Hopewell JROTC Raider Team and Assistant coach of the Drill Team and several other JROTC academic and athletic teams.
