A National Workshop on Popularisation of Remote Sensing Based Maps and Geo-spatial Information was organised jointly by ISRS and ISRO on the eve of National Remote Sensing Day on August 11, 2017 at ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) , Bengaluru . National Remote Sensing Day (August 12) is celebrated every year on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the Father of the Indian Space Program.

To celebrate National Remote Sensing Day , ISRO had decided to conduct a workshop on Popularization of Remote Sensing Based Maps and Geospatial Information that was happening all over the country, during the evening of August 11th , 2017. The program was broadcast through different modes like live streaming at ISRS/ISRO/IIRS websites, A-View/Youtube channel and in offline modes of videos.

In-between these videos there was a small break as the attendees were given some refreshments. The evening ended with a live panel discussion was held within the same auditorium, the panel was joined by many senior delegates of various departments , and students were allowed to ask questions about remote sensing. The workshop proved to be one of the largest mass awareness and sensitisation programs on remote sensing applications in the country.
