Dr. Uma Lakshmi Kalakada is an Associate Professor in the Department of MBA and Head of the Centre of Excellence – Business Analytics at CMR Institute of Technology, Bengaluru since June 2023. With over 18 years of experience in teaching, training, and academic research, she brings deep expertise in Business Analytics, Python Programming, Machine Learning, and Digital Transformation. Dr. Uma holds a Ph.D. in Management (Systems & Operations) from Alliance University, Bengaluru and is a certified MCP in VC++, GNIIT graduate, and UGC-NET qualified academic. Her doctoral research focused on customer agility and knowledge management capabilities in the retail sector. A staunch believer in continuous learning, she had undergone trainings in 3 months of  design thinking from Stanford Graduate School of Business, 9 months of Academic Research and Data Analytics from IIM-Kozhikode, 6-day FDP in Machine Learning from IIM-Bangalore, 5-day Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Program on Nurturing Future Leadership Program from TAPMI, Manipal. Dr. Uma regularly upskills herself via MOOC Platforms of NPTEL and Coursera.

She has conducted multiple FDPs, executive training sessions, and workshops in areas like Python, Exploratory Data Analysis, Decision Modelling using Excel, Data Visualization using Tableau and Power BI and Healthcare Analytics. She has presented papers at premier institutions such as IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, ISB Hyderabad and IISc.  She is also an active reviewer for SCOPUS and ABDC-listed journals and a member of NHRD, and IEEE She had been a corporate trainer for premier IT companies in India in the areas of C, C++, VC++ and Java. Passionate about bridging theory and practice, Dr. Uma's sessions are known for being hands-on, application-driven, and aligned with industry-relevant problem solving. Her areas of research interest are Customer Agility, Knowledge Management, Employability in Higher Education and Healthcare Analytics. Currently she is working on a project on Dental Service Pricing Model.
