The Information and Network Security (BIS703) course introduces students to the fundamental principles of information security and modern cryptography. It covers classical and contemporary cryptographic techniques, cryptographic hash functions, authentication protocols, random number generation, key management, public key infrastructure (PKI), and real-world cryptographic applications. Students gain an understanding of how cryptographic mechanisms are used to ensure confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation in digital communication systems. The course also explores the deployment of security technologies in Internet communications, wireless networks, mobile systems, secure payment transactions, and digital identity management, equipping students with the theoretical knowledge and practical foundation required to design and evaluate secure computing environments.
