GRADUATING WITH DISTINCTION
Students earning diplomas will be recognized on the graduation program as graduating with distinction by attaining an 85% Cumulative Average and completing at least one of the following:
Earning a Nationally recognized Industry Certification (FAA Part 107, Microsoft Office Specialist, Private Pilot)
Participate in at least one of the Governor's Schools (during the summer)
Participate in one of the ALL State Music Organizations
Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist
Attain a score 31 or higher composite score on the ACT
Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two Advanced Placement (AP) exams (Students who have taken a minimum of 2 AP Courses but have not received their final scores will be indicated as "Pending")
Successfully complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
Earn 12 or more semester hours of transcribed Postsecondary Credit
TN READY Grad
Students earning diplomas will be recognized on the graduation program as graduating TN Ready Grad and completing at least one of the following:
Earn a composite score of 21 or higher on the ACT
Complete 4 Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSO)
Complete 2 EPSOs and earn an Industry Certification
Complete 2 EPSOs and earn an a score of Military Readiness on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Test Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT)
Volunteer Recognition Policy
Students completing 10 hours of volunteer service each semester beginning in the 9th grade will be recognized at graduation by receiving a pin for their service. The hours must be turned into the school counseling office each semester of high school.
The Seal of Biliteracy Award
The seal of biliteracy award provides recognition to students who have demonstrated proficiency in 2 or more languages by high school graduation. Information including requirements and benefits can be found at www.volstateseal.org. If you are interested in earning a seal of biliteracy, you should plan to begin meeting the requirements beginning with your 9th grade year.
TN Tri-Star Scholar
Students who earn a composite score of 19 or higher on the ACT or equivalent and earns a Capstone Industry Certification as promoted by the Department of Education, will be recognized as a Tennessee Tri-Star Scholar at graduation. Students who meet the requirements of the Tennessee Work Ethic Distinction program will also be recognized as a Tennessee Tri-Star Scholar at graduation.
Industry 4.0 Diploma Distinction
The Industry 4.0 Diploma Distinction honors students who pursue a career in a high-need, high skill industry while still in high school. To earn the distinction, students will be required to complete 9 courses in aligned with Dual Enrollment and/or Work-Based Learning (WBL) Placements during their Junior and Senior Year as well as meet monthly with a career coach. Students who plan to earn this distinction complete an intent form and submit it to their counselor NO LATER THAN JANUARY 15TH OF THEIR SOPHOMORE YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL.
