Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the ONLY way to apply for federal student aid. The schools you list on your application will use the FAFSA information to evaluate your financial need and determine how much federal aid you are eligible to receive. Tennessee also uses the FAFSA for Hope and TN Promise scholarships. Student's can complete the FAFSA beginning on October 1st each year. To select the correct FAFSA application, ask yourself, "What will the school year be when I am starting college?" If you are still unsure, ask the college/university to which you are applying.
