The mission of Kenwood Middle School is to develop responsible students who persevere in their academic goals, interact honestly with others, and fulfill productive roles in society.
At Kenwood Middle School, students are scholars before athletes. The school prioritizes academic achievement as the foundation for long-term success. Participation in athletics is contingent upon strong academic performance, and students are supported through a collaborative approach involving teachers, parents, and coaches.
Key components of this philosophy include:
Academic Priority: Students must maintain academic eligibility to participate in sports.
Balanced Development: Emphasis on academic, physical, social, and emotional growth.
Support Systems: Teachers mentor students academically; coaches reinforce life skills like discipline and teamwork; parents stay engaged and encourage balance.
Student Accountability: Students are expected to manage their time, complete assignments, and seek support when needed.
Collaboration: Ongoing communication among all stakeholders promotes unified support and shared goal-setting.
This philosophy ensures students are prepared not only for athletic success but also for life beyond middle school, fostering well-rounded individuals equipped for future challenges.
To participate in any sport at Kenwood Middle School, students must submit a completed Sports Physical dated after April 15 of the current year. For the upcoming school year, we are accepting physicals dated after April 15, 2025. This is a requirement for all athletic participation and must be on file before tryouts, practices, or games.
